A Passion for Panama's History

I have to confess that up until a few years ago I very much disliked studying history. I became aware that material like history becomes important when its purpose aligns with our personal purposes. That is how my passion for the history of Panama began and LiveWalkPTY came to life.

LiveWalkPTY does not intend to commercialize history but to make history accessible to Panamanians, in order to strengthen our identities and consolidate our purposes as Panamanians, and to foreign visitors, who I hope will leave our country with a sense of our history.

A “LiveWalk” is a triangle between history, imagination and interaction with one’s surroundings. LiveWalkPTY’s experiential factor permits the stories to be integrated in our memories in a dynamic manner and anchors LiveWalkPTY’s purpose of rescuing and sharing our history. The audio walks give life to Panama’s history.

Twenty-eight months have already passed since my wife and I first imagined creating LiveWalkPTY and seven months have passed since we launched our first tour for the Casco Viejo. This year we have set big goals: from working on improving LiveWalkPTY for iOS to launching LiveWalkPTY Android, to creating new tours, to participating in a business accelerator. If all goes well, we will also begin working with several government institutions to promote our shared cultural, education and tourism objectives.

In another blog, I would like to share a bit more of our experience launching the company, some thoughts on the production process, and a few of the errors we committed at the outset.
