Yesterday we visited the MuMo, the Museum of the Mola. This small museum explores the history and significance of the mola, the colorful garments that you may have seen / see Guna women wearing or selling on the streets of the Casco Antiguo. In addition to housing a multitude of beautiful and bright molas - everything from traditional geometric patterns to super heroes - the museum narrates part of the history of the Guna people. We loved walking through the dazzlingly colorful displays of molas and enjoyed the museum's interactive spaces (a 'video room' where you can become literally dizzy with the colorful shapes and a do-it-yourself mola wall among others). The museum is free to all, has an elevator and has AC. In addition, there are Spanish / English speaking guides who can provide tours / respond to questions. We recommend around 45 minutes to visit the museum, but you can easily make it into a shorter / longer visit. Last but not least, our 11-month old baby, Eleanor, found the space and the molas fascinating! Thank you MuMo for an excellent visit! We will certainly be back! #hagamosunamola |
